A DRIVING FORCE IN THE COMMUNITY
The Junior League of Wheeling, Inc. (JLW) is a driving force in the community, respected and known for its commitment and service. A dynamic, non-profit organization, the JLW is comprised of women dedicated to promoting voluntarism, improving the community, and developing the potential of women. It’s purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Incorporated in 1940, the JLW is one of Wheeling’s most active and vital service organizations. Throughout its history, the JLW has succuessfully implemented community projects and programs that directly benefit the Upper Ohio Valley and its residents.
The Junior League of Wheeling is affiliated with the Association of Junior Leagues International Inc., an organization consisting of 296 Junior Leagues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Great Britian, with a collective membership of more than 93,000 women.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The Junior League of Wheeling is committed to initiating and supporting community projects. The vision and dedication of our members is embodied in such projects as the Heritage Port Playground, Habitat For Humanity All Women Build, our many cookbooks, Harmony House, the Kids Fair and Kids in the Kitchen.
Our members have generously donated their time, energy and enthusiasm to efforts that focus on the needs of women and children throughout our area. We have provided training in CPR, financial planning for women, literacy projects, domestic violence prevention programs, recognition of teen voluntarism, providing children with much needed school supplies, and numerous programs devoted to physical and mental health.
The Junior League of Wheeling impacts the community by providing volunteers, financial support, and administrative guidance.

The Junior League of Wheeling welcomes all women committed to improving their communities and enriching their lives and the lives of others.
The Junior League offers specialized training that provides its members with necessary leadership skills. Through work on committees, participation in workshops, and direct volunteer activities in the community, junior League members develop valuable leadership tools and characteristics.
Training in the JLW includes such areas as public relations and marketing, fundraising, advocacy, finance, leadership, and non-profit administration. Membership allows women to address community needs and develop strategies for dealing with problems and issues.
The JLW also provides a solid, supportive network of women. This affords members the ability to participate in special events and social activities and to forge valuable, lasting friendships. The member network and mentoring support of the Junior League are valuable assets in terms of building community relationships and professional contacts.
